My “Do Not Worry” Dress!

Had a cool thing happen to me last night: David Chown and I got all the way to Gaylord for our gig at the Otsego Club when I realized I had FORGOTTEN TO BRING MY DRESS!!!! I had the shoes and fishnet stockings in my bag and that’s all. My dress was hanging, forgotten, in my vehicle in T.C. It was a fancy show so I couldn’t get away with the casual clothes I was wearing. After I got over the initial heart attack, I realized everything was going to be fine. I said a quick prayer “okay, God, help me out here please. You know what I need!” I didn’t feel one bit worried. I helped David unload the equipment from his van so he could set up, and then I jumped in the van and drove to the nearest department store to find a dress before the show started! (Thank you, Peter, at the Otsego Club, for suggesting the store and giving me directions!!!)

I had this strong feeling that I was going to find the perfect dress and as I walked into the store, I immediately saw it!! It was so cute and so “me”, even with my favorite color in it, a bright jewel-toned red. It was the perfect dress, the last one in my size and I fell in like with it. :0) I even had enough time to pick out some jewelry to match, drive back  to my hotel room, pump milk (it was my first night away from Gideon!) touch-up my hair and makeup and even eat dinner before I went on!! It was rather MIRACULOUS given the extremely small amount of time I’d had to work with. (about an hour) The gig went flawlessly and I got about 20 compliments on my dress. Thanks, God, for the reminder that worrying is useless! :0)

“There are two ways to look at the events of life; as if everything is a miracle, or as if nothing is.” – unknown

Like my buddy Jesus says:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[a]?

28And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matt 6:25-34

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall make your paths straight.” – Proverbs

Rhyme for BPA free!

I heard this on NPR and wanted to share it with all the moms/people I know. After two
years of independent scientists raising red flags about the chemical, the
government/F.D.A. FINALLY admitted last week that BPA in plastics “should be
avoided”. (another example of how just because  something is thought to be “safe”
today doesn’t mean it really is, so as parents we NEED to do our own research
and follow our own gut instincts!)
BPA (in baby bottles, sippy cups, many plastics) has been found by scientists to
cause heart disease, affect the reproductive systems and affect brain function, among other things.
Unfortunately, stores will still be selling their BPA-containing merchandise for
the next two years, so YOU have to know what to avoid. Here’s a handy little
rhyme I heard on NPR to help you remember which plastics are the safe ones. Turn
the plastic merchandise over and look for the recycling sign. In it there should
be a number. That’s where the rhyme comes in: “4, 5, 1 and 2, ALL THE REST ARE
BAD FOR YOU.” Please spread the word to other consumers!!!!! I heard this on NPR, by
the author of the book “Slow Death by Rubber Duck”.
And if anyone has any advice on what to do when there IS no recycling sign,
please let me know and share it on this website. THANK YOU!
