This song is so special to me, because it really captures the mood of how I feel sometimes. Bored, impatient and drowning in my day-to-day small-town life. I still feel this way quite often, and I can’t wait until the day that my “city dreams” come true.
Every time I turn around
It’s the same old people there
Get me out of this small town
I need the city air
I know it’s stupid to some
But I want a subway to run under my feet
And I want to see a million different colored
Faces as I walk the street
I’m drowning in my city dreams
Every time I think of you
I feel much too small
But maybe I could conquer you
If I were given the chance to rise or fall
So make me cross a bridge to work
Or ride the train each day
Make me lock all my doors at night
It’s a price I’m willing to pay
But let me revel in creativity
In society, in diversity
The city girl inside of me
Has reached her limit in the country
I know it’s stupid to some but when I get there
I am gonna run down a crowded street
And the lights and the music will envelop me
