EL AMOR DE MIS ABUELOS

Bithdate: November 5, 2004
I was brushing my teeth before going to bed, and for some reason I thought about my grandpa’s eyes. I thought about how alive and child-like they are, even though he has the hands of an old man. I ran to my guitar and wrote this song about the love of my grandparents. They both LOVE to dance, and some of my favorite memories are of them dancing at parties, or even just while they’re cooking breakfast…so I wanted to include that in the song as well. English translation below.

Mi abuelo tiene ojos de bebe
Y manos de viejito
Y no importa tu historia
Con abuelo todo el mundo es amigo
Yo le pido a Dios padre
Que la vida nunca borre mi recuerdo
De la magia y alegria
Que se siente en la vida
Y resulta del amor de mi abuelo
Baila, Abuelito
Baila, Baila con migo
Baila, Abuelito, Baila, Baila
Mi abuelo no seria abuelo
Si no es por su princesa
Mi abuela tan hermosa, su mujer
La reina de la casa
Y juntos nadie en el mundo
Estan mas enamorados
Ay que magia y alegria
Que se siente en la vida
Y resulta del amor de mis abuelos
Baila, Abuelito
Baila, Abuelita
Baila, ay que bonito bailan, bailan

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
My grandpa has the eyes of a baby,
And the hands of an old man
And your history doesn’t matter,
With my grandpa, everybody is a friend
I pray to God the father
that life will never erase the memory
Of the magic and happiness
That I feel in my life
that results from the love of my Grandpa.
Dance, Grandpa, Dance, Dance with me…
My grandpa, wouldn’t be a grandpa
If it were not for his princess
My beautiful grandmother, his woman
The queen of the house
And together, no one in the world
Is more in love than they are
Oh what magic and happiness
I feel in my life
That results from the love of my grandparents
Dance, Grandpa, Dance, Grandma,
Dance, Oh how beautiful you dance.
