A friend called me and asked me to write a song for her upcoming wedding. I sat down and thought about my own marriage, and this song poured out of me. My grandparents met eachother at a dance, and as my grandfather says, “We’ve been dancing ever since…” That’s what this song reminds me of; that life is a dance we learn as we go, and that marriage is a dance too….
Dance with me
Dance with me
Take my hand
Never let me free
Dance with me
Say you’ll be my love
Love is greater than an enemy fighting
Greater than the things we dream of
Cause you are my man
And I’ll do all that I can to be good to you
I am what I am
Won’t you do all that you can to be good to me…
Cause in your eyes reflected
Under the moon above
I see a promise that can never be broken
So dance with me to the end of love
This I swear
I’ve got no plans to go
I kiss your cheek and I tell you I love you
You smile and say ‘baby I know’
And in my heart
That’s where you’ll always be
I’ve tried forgetting about you
But you’re the only one that I see
