Thank you!

I have heard a LOT of great feedback about my new CD with David Chown! We worked so hard on it for two years, and we are both extremely proud of the result. It is a tribute to the old Ella Fitzgerald era of music…just piano and voice. Thank you to Chris Selby, for being our catalyst and to Steve Quick, who did a great job with the final mastering of the CD! Thank you to Nick Twomey for helping with the fundraising/promoting side of things! Thank you to Jason Hamelin for your gorgeous pictures of us. Thank you to Luna and Gideon who were a big part of the whole project, growing inside me and hanging out at the studio with me. Thank you to my Mom, Mom B and other babysitters who helped out throughout the process. Thank you to my AMAZING, caring, loving husband Josh for all his patience and advice. Thank you to Andy Trego for creating this new website, and as always, to my fans and friends for being excited about the project and supporting me every step of the way.
A VERY SPECIAL thank you to my Abuelo and Abuela, who were the first to introduce me to many of the songs on the CD. I love you and dedicate this CD to you!

Do you have the CD? Let me know which songs are your favorites! And keep checking out the website from time to time….now that it’s so easy for me to update, I will be on here MUCH more regularly! :0)

Musician With a Mission

Musician With a Mission: In 2009, Miriam created her ministry, Musician With a Mission. The mission is simply to use her musical gift to bring practical help to those in need. “Sing For Their Supper” is one way that Miriam has been accomplishing this goal, by making the commitment to collect pantry donations at all her shows. She began this tradition in January, 2009 and has collected hundreds of donations at her shows since then.

- 10% of all Pico Productions profits go to help the needy, both locally and globally.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

The last time vocalist Miriam Pico and pianist David Chown combined their superb musical talents, they ended up winning a national talent contest.

This time, the winners will be the duo’s fans. Pico and Chown are performing three free events to celebrate their new CD release. The events will also help support needy area families.

The album, “S’bout Time,” was recorded over the past two years at Chown’s studio. Songs featured include Pico’s original, “So in Love,” along with jazz and pop standards — “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “I Got Rhythm,” “Cheek to Cheek,” “Time in a Bottle,” “At Last,” “Besame Mucho,” “You’ve Got a Friend” and more.

Release parties are scheduled for:

– Wednesday, Dec. 2, 6 p.m.; an “open house style” event at Krissie’s Created Gems & Fine Accessories, 127 E. Front, Traverse City. Refreshments will be provided.

– Sunday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m.; a concert at New Hope Church Conference Center, 5100 Bethesda Court, Williamsburg. The New Hope youth group will sell refreshments.

– Friday, Dec. 11, 7 p.m.; a concert at Evola Music, 976 W. S. Airport Road, Traverse City. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.

All three events are free, but Pico and Chown are encouraging guests to bring donations for Sing For Their Supper, a coalition of artists who help the needed. Sing For Their Supper was founded by Pico, who said items most needed are diapers, canned goods and toys.

Pico and Chown have been collaborating since 2007, when Chris Selby, now president of Evola Music, encouraged them to enter a Kawai piano talent search. The duo performed “Someone To Watch Over Me” and, out of thousands of entries, Pico took first place.
